Frequently Asked Questions

What do we do?

We publish a quarterly color magazine, The BN Expediter. It is usually 32 pages in length and provides pictures and articles about the BN, the BNSF and the MRL.  Contributions from members are encouraged and welcomed. We produce an all-BN calendar each year, we maintain an archive of historical documents and photos, and we hold an annual convention at a city somewhere along the BN/BNSF/MRL systems.  And of course we maintain this website, which you already knew.

How do I join?

You can join on-line or via regular mail. For detailed instructions, click here.

What does it cost?

Annual Regular membership dues are $25, Youth (16 and under) are $10. For those wishing to provide additional support, a Sustaining membership is available at $50 per year. Sustaining members get a free all-BN color calendar and are recognized by name in every issue of The BN Expediter.

I’m already a member, but need to change my mailing address.  What should I do?

Go to our address change web page.

How do I get back issues of The BN Expediter?

Issues from years past are available for purchase from back issues.

What can I learn?

The BN Expediter has presented articles about equipment, history, locations, operations, infrastructure, videos, current events, modeling, business, and other writings on the BN, BNSF and MRL, just to name a few topics. It also has a question and answer section. In addition, the annual convention offers the opportunity to share information and experiences with fellow BN/BNSF/MRL enthusiasts and to learn about and experience the specific location of the convention.

Can I get help with my questions?
