BN train 185 began 1972-3. The destination was changed to Northtown in 1974. Train 185 became train 203 Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for North LaCrosse, GB&W (set out at East Winona), Northtown, and train 119. It was deleted in 1989.

BN train 198 operating from Seattle to Minot became train 206 on Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for Wenatchee. It was deleted when train 102 was changed to originate in Seattle.

CB&Q train 83 connected with GN train 83 at Union Yard in Minneapolis and formed a run through from Chicago to Seattle. It retained the same number after the merger, but with a revised schedule Train 83 became train 207 on Jan. 1, 1985. It was deleted in 1987.

BN train 172 began in 1972 and operated from Lewiston, ID daily except Monday. Train 172 became train 208 on Jan. 1, 1986. In 1988, it handled traffic for Connell, Libby, Whitefish, Shelby, Havre, Glasgow, Williston, Minot, New Rockford, Dilworth, (Fargo, Breckenridge, and Willmar), Northtown, and beyond. In 1989 the schedule was changed to terminate at Willmar.

GN train 78 (Texas) became BN train 180. Train 210 handled traffic for Shelby, Great Falls, Laurel, and beyond. In 1988, it operated from Whitefish Wednesday through Friday. It was deleted in 1989.

BN train 157 became train 211 on Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for Brainerd, Staples, Dilworth, Jamestown, Mandan, Dickinson, Glendive, Miles City, Forsyth, Billings, Laurel, and beyond. In Jan. 1989 the schedule was changed to originate at Northtown.

BN train 158 became train 212 on Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for Forsyth, Miles City, Glendive, Dickinson, Mandan, Jamestown, Grand Forks (set out at Fargo), Dilworth, Brainerd, and Superior. In 1989 the schedule was changed to terminate at Dilworth.

NP train 600 became BN train 86 and operated via Laurel to St. Paul. Train 86 became train 218 on Jan. 1, 1985. With the start of Montana Rail Link, it still originated at Missoula. In 1988, it handled traffic for Billings, Forsyth, Glendive, Dickinson, Jamestown, Grand Forks (set out at Fargo), Dilworth, Northtown, and beyond.

CB&Q train 79 became train 75 in late 1968. CB&Q train 75 retained the same number after the merger. Train 75 became train HSP in 1982 and became train 223 on Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for York, Aurora, Grand Island, Alliance, Crawford, Edgemont, Gillette, Sheridan, Laurel, and beyond.

BN train 74 began in the mid-70s. Train 74 became train PSH in 1982 and became train 224 on Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for Sheridan, Gillette, Wyodak, Upton, Edgemont, Crawford, Alliance, Lincoln, Kansas City, and beyond.

BN train 174 began in 1971. The origin was changed to Yakima in 1974 and then the schedule was suspended until 1977. Train 174 became train 228 Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it handled traffic for Paradise, Missoula, Helena, Livingston, Laurel, and beyond. It was deleted in 1989.

GN train 437 (Fast Fargo) became BN train 131 after the merger originating at Union Yard and operated daily except Saturday. BN train 131 became train 231 on Jan. 1, 1985 operating daily. In 1988, it handled traffic for Lincoln, Sioux City, Willmar, Northtown, and beyond including Grand Forks and Dilworth. On Sept. 26, 1988 the symbol was changed to 237.

BN train 110 became train 242 on Jan. 1, 1985 and handled traffic from the DW&P and Superior. With the start of train 142, it originated at Northtown. In 1988, it handled traffic from train 142 for East Winona, North LaCrosse, Barstow, Galesburg, and beyond. It was deleted in 1989.

SLSF train 834 retained the same number through the merger with BN and then became train 247 on Jan. 1, 1985. In 1988, it operated Tuesday through Sunday and handled traffic for Blytheville, Hayti, Cape Girardeau, Neelys, Crystal City, St. Louis, and beyond.

CB&Q train 67 retained the same number after the merger. Train 67 became train 257 on Jan. 1, 1985. It operated as required in 1986. In 1988, it handled traffic for West Quincy, Kansas City, Tulsa, and beyond. It was deleted in 1989.
