FRIENDS OF THE |
Starting out its life as a 1946 Pullman product, the "Oberlin Glacier" was used on the "Empire Builder" for ten years. It was then sent back to Pullman in 1956 to change it from a 7-4-3-1 sleeper to it's present configuration as a "Buffet-Lounge 7 Roomette, 2 Bedroom sleeper. It's identification was also changed at this time to the "Manitoba Club", and was henceforth used on the "Winipeg Limited" for the rest of its existence in GN (and BN service). In the 1971 creation of AMTRAK, the "Winipeg Limited" was to be discounted and this car was transferred into the Business Car fleet as the "St Croix River". This car is still in service.
